Benefits

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has wound healing properties which augment the results from microneedling and reduces downtime by promoting faster healing. Microneedling with PRP is safe and effective in treating mild scarring, particularly from acne, and a useful adjunctive treatment for skin rejuvenation. The treatment course improves wrinkles, skin texture, pore size, stretch marks and pigment issues. PRP can also be combined with microdermabrasion, commonly known as a “Vampire Facial”.

How Does it Work?

The microneedling procedure involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny sterile needles in a uniform and controlled fashion. The needle depths can be adjusted to suit the area and skin thickness being treated. PRP is rich in natural growth factors which act as an energy boost for our skin and promotes the healthy activity of skin cells, as well as thepromotion of natural anti-oxidant and hydrating mechanisms to facilitate collagen induction therapy. PRP is applied topically during the microneedling procedure.

Patients will have approximately 11mls (about 2 teaspoons) of their own blood drawn, which will then be spun down in a centrifugeand applied directly to your skin during the procedure.

Patients can expect 24-48 hours of downtime following the procedure. Symptoms are similar to a sunburn and requires the application of sunscreen post-procedure. Applying makeup is discouraged for 48 hours following the procedure.

A course of 3 treatments, performed at 1 month intervals is recommended. Acne scars will likely require up to 6 treatments, depending on the severity of scarring.
