Chronic Pain
What is Chronic Pain?
Chronic Pain can affect various parts of the body including Chronic Headaches (Tension or Migraines), Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) and Lower Back Pain. Migraines are a common disorder and frequent attacks can interfere with daily activities. Chronic daily headaches are those that occur more than 15 days a month for greater than 6 months. When lifestyle and medication treatment is not effective for controlling chronic headaches supplemental Botox treatment may be useful the same applies to the treatment of TMJ and Chronic lower back pain.
How do we treat the condition?
Intramuscular injection of Botox has been shown to be safe and effective in relieving the pain associated with these disorders and may reduce the amount of medications required to treat them. Onset of action is usually experienced within two weeks of treatment and should last for a 3-5 month period.
